Rachel Strum is an abstract painter based in Taos, New Mexico. Her work is inspired by the dichotomies of what can be found in nature vs. the product of human societies, binary oppositions such as nature/culture, raw/cooked and the obscure myths we make up about ourselves.

Through the manipulation of space and color as her visual language, she investigates the relations of abstract and representational, inner-narratives vs. outer portrayal, elusive vs. tangible and always seeking to express the only constants, which are transition, growth, and adaptation.

Rachel is originally from New York and studied at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan where she received a BFA in Fine Arts in 2007.
